Eriksson’s illness: Nancy Dall’Olio describes Sven as a great love, calls news devastating

Nancy Dell’Olio, the former partner of Sven-Goran Eriksson, has offered her thoughts to Tuttosport on the coach’s illness.

Dell’Olio, an Italo-American lawyer, first met Eriksson during his time in Rome and was his girlfriend for several years. These are the extracts from her recent interview with Corriere della Sera.

In terms of the devastating impact of Eriksson’s illness, Dell’Olio commented, “It’s devastating. After the death of my mother last September, I am still dealing with a delicate moment. I didn’t think 2024 would start off with another piece of terrible news. I knew Sven was sick, but it hurts a lot.”

Dell’Olio also took a chance to reminisce about the pleasant times they shared, especially the memorable victory with Lazio, in her interview with Corriere della Sera. “There were beautiful periods: the championship with Lazio was a pivotal moment. The fans going crazy, the great warmth born around the team, the successes: they were exciting days.”

She further revealed her pride in sharing the beautiful story of her love affair with Eriksson in a book. “I am proud to have spoken of the beautiful story that tied me to Sven; it’s one of the two great love stories of my life.”
