Rummenigge: Football for me includes Messi, Ronaldo, Pelé and Maradona

Former footballer Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has drawn up his all-time ideal football line-up. As might be expected from a former striker, Rummenigge’s line-up is notably attack-heavy, lacking in defensive midfielders.

Rummenigge selected his star-studded team in an interview with SportWeek. His dream line-up includes Neuer in goal; a three-man defence of Baresi, Beckenbauer and Maldini; a midfield quartet of Maradona, Messi, Platini and Pelé; and a forward trio of Cruijff, Gerd Muller and Cristiano Ronaldo. In the dugout, helming this mythical team would be Pep Guardiola.

The question posed by Rummenigge in the interview was, “So, what do you think? Would a team like this win anything?”
