The official list of errors that have occurred in Serie A’s first half of the season has been drawn up by Arbitration appointee, Gianluca Rocchi. This was unveiled during a press conference organised in Coverciano where Rocchi detailed the mishaps involving the VAR system.
In the match between Juventus and Bologna, an infringement by Iling on Ndoye went unaddressed as the On-Field Review (OFR) was not granted. Similarly, in Sassuolo’s game against Juventus, Berardi’s high-tackling Bremer failed to prompt an OFR. Another controversy where no OFR was awarded was in a Monza versus Bologna match where a goal by Ferguson was nullified due to a non-existent foul by Zirkzee.
There were further alleged mistakes in games involving Genoa, Juventus, and Inter. In Genoa’s game against Juventus, the VAR system failed to recognise a handball offence by Bani within the penalty area, whereas in the match between Genoa and Inter, the OFR was not extended for an obvious.push by Bisseck on Strootman. Similarly, Inter’s game against Hellas Verona also missed an OFR when Bastoni seemingly elbowed Duda.
Lastly, the game of Sassuolo versus Fiorentina saw a goal by Thorsvedt being disallowed after an OFR demonstrated an offside which, according to Rocchi, should not have been punished based on the action dynamics.
