Napoli-Monza 0-0: Mazzarri Struggles to Secure a Win

In their 18th game of the Serie A 2023/2024 season, Napoli and Monza drew 0-0 at Diego Maradona Stadium.

The match ended with both teams unable to break the deadlock. However, the game wasn’t short of drama. In the 93rd minute, Palladino was sent off just a few minutes after Mazzarri, leaving both teams without their respective managers.

The final opportunity of the match fell to Gaetano, who in the 91st minute found himself faced with Di Gregorio but failed to convert. With six minutes extra time added, the match eventually ended goalless.

Earlier, in the 86th minute, Machin tried to turn the tide of the match with a long-range effort that went just over the bar. At the 71st minute, Zerbin, in an advantageous position, missed the mark.

One of the key moments of the match came in the 67th minute when Napoli’s goalkeeper Alex Meret saved a penalty from Pessina. The penalty was awarded for a handball by Mario Rui on a shot by Colpani, a decision that the referee had no doubt to make.

In the 56th minute, Kvaratskhelia had a clear cut chance after a neatly done one-two with Raspadori, but his effort was stopped by Di Gregorio. The first half ended goalless with no significant breakthrough from either side.

The second half picked up from where it left off, with neither team managing to find a way through the opponent’s defence. This contributes to the overall vast defensive performance that was put up by both teams, resulting in a goalless draw.

The game was closely matched, with both teams showing great resilience and defensive solidity. However, both managers will surely be looking to improve their team’s performance in front of goal leading into the next game.
