Tensions in the air were felt just before the kick-off for the Monza-Genoa match, according to Sportmediaset. Police were forced to intervene to prevent clashes between fans from both sides after a few firecrackers were set off.

The situation was further complicated by the presence of some fans of Sporting Gijon, who are twinned with the Brianza supporters, but great rivals of the Genoa supporters.
