Ahead of what would have been a crucial match for her, Marta Fascina, companion of Italian former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, has shared her views with the Corriere della Sera newspaper and talked about the exciting Milan-Monza football match.
In her interview, Fascina said, “Milan has always been the team of his heart.”
She continued to reveal how Berlusconi often reminisced about attending matches with his father and associated the red and black team with him his whole life. Fascina quoted Berlusconi as having a sense of pride for transforming Milan into the most decorated soccer club in the world.
Meanwhile, acquiring Monza allowed him to help Monzesi fans to realise their big dream. Within just four seasons, Berlusconi managed to bring Monza, for the first time after 110 years, from Serie C to Serie A. Fascina noted, “He would have experienced the game with a fair dose of joyful curiosity, hoping for a tie to not cause his heart any displeasure.”
Discussing about the players, Fascina revealed, “Among the soccer players of the past, Franco Baresi was his favourite.” Currently, he admired Leao and Giroud. Berlusconi wished to see Rafa playing as a striker. Moreover, Colpani was his all-time favourite from Monza.
When it comes to the coach with whom Berlusconi had the best rapport, Fascina said he was always close to all the coaches, starting from Sacchi to Palladino. He considered himself as a fraction of his own coaches and often gave them valuable advice. From a technical point of view, he wasn’t a fan of starting from the back but preferred the goalkeeper to throw far so the strikers had more opportunities to score.
Dishing on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, she said, “Silvio always regarded Zlatan as a friend besides a charismatic leader and top scorer.” Fascina believes Ibrahimovic will succeed with his new executive role at Milan.
When asked about the relic Berlusconi loved the most, Fascina stated that the house holds numerous trophies, but Berlusconi held the Champions Cups closest to his heart.
