Juventus’ Allegri commends referee Massa, calls match ‘important point’

Massimiliano Allegri, coach of Juventus, has conveyed his thoughts post the recent match against Genoa. Speaking to Dazn, he discussed the details of the encounter.

The Juventus coach acknowledged that it was not easy playing against Genoa. “It was a good performance, but we need to improve,” he said. He also implies that his team needs to be more effective in certain situations. “You have to take your chances and strike down your opponent. If you miss an opportunity and they score, it’s disappointing,” he stated. He concluded that his team should have been sharper towards the end and made fewer mistakes, but maintains that the drawn game was an important point and a continuation of their positive streak.

Allegri was largely satisfied with the refereeing in the match, specifically crediting referee Massa. “He refereed a good match. I’m very happy,” he said. However, the Juventus coach refrained from passing judgment on some of the incidents evaluated by the VAR (Video Assistant Referee). He pointed out that it is challenging to have a uniform approach to interpreting the VAR’s decisions since these are subjective. Recalling an incident from several years ago in a match between Atalanta and Juventus, Allegri suggested that delving into subjective claims could be problematic.

The coach suggests that officials should be left to referee. He seems to hint that subjective incidents, old-school tactics, and potential errors from the referee are all normal parts of the game. These events, he pointed out, could lead to debates post-match, but declined to dwell on this topic any further.
