Concerns are being raised on Inter Milan’s reliance on striker Lautaro Martinez, according to reports from Corriere Dello Sport. The hesitation is based on Inter’s performance in the face of Martinez’s absence during their games against Lecce and Genoa. The matches, which turned out to be a win and a draw for the Nerazzurri, showcased a reduction in offensive productivity with Thuram appearing disoriented and the efforts of Arnautovic and Sanchez found wanting.
The return of Martinez against Verona saw immediate improvement in the team’s front-line, consolidating the concern on the striker’s crucial role. However, it has been strongly emphasised that the pursuit of the Scudetto – the championship title – cannot hinge solely on one player’s performance, especially considering potential dips in form or injuries.
In spite of this, Inter has ruled out reinforcements in their forward line for the coming January transfer window. This decision places the team at risk of an over-dependency on Martinez. The team has not made any official statements on this matter as yet.
