Following the match between Genoa and Juventus, Genoa’s coach Alberto Gilardino has expressed his thoughts in an interview with Dazn.
Regarding the overall match, Gilardino indicated that he had high expectations for his team that they largely met. He said, “I had requested this from the boys in the past days and before the match. Be it due to Juventus’s structure and our qualities and will that we have always maintained: to propose and play.” Gilardino praises his team for their performance, especially noting the start with Gundmundsson and Messias up front, the wide and deep play, and the introduction of Ekuban in the second half.
According to Gilardino, the tie was well-deserved, stating, “We deserved this draw, this goal, and the demonstration of the boys against a great team.”
When asked about the possibility of Bremer’s goal, Gilardino admitted it was a moment he tried not to dwell on. “Goals are scored at all times. In this period it often happened to us in the last minutes or in recovery,” he remarked.
He also acknowledged the difficulty of training for such situations but was convinced his team was ready. “I knew that the boys would play the match tonight, they were prepared and determined. I am happy for them,” he added.
