Genoa, Gilardino: Angry after Monza, Retegui is out

Alberto Gilardino, the manager of Genoa, has opened up about his team’s upcoming clash with Juventus during a press conference.

He conveyed a clear sense of determination to seize the opportunity and make a comeback. “The team is angry, itching for revenge. They want to face this game with pride and competitive fervor, considering it a great opportunity,” he said. Gilardino described the ups and downs as part of a growth process for their team, which, given its formation, timing and young players with little shared game time, requires patience and balance to proceed with their season.

The Genoa manager emphasised the strength of their opponents. “Tomorrow we meet a team with a great physical structure, in all departments. But as I said earlier, for us, it is an opportunity. We want to play this game, yes being angry, but clear and decided on what we have to do during the match,” he shared.

On a different note, Gilardino revealed that Retegui, who encountered an issue in Monza, “has been evaluated in these days but 90% will not be in the match.”
