The Genoa football club is actively seeking a replacement for Josep Martinez, who is poised to join Inter Milan.
According to Sky Sport, Genoa has entered the race to sign Pau Lopez, a goalkeeper currently under contract with Marseille.
Lopez, a former Roma player, has become a significant target for Genoa as they look to strengthen their squad.
However, Genoa faces stiff competition from Como, who are also keen on acquiring the Spanish shot-stopper.
Sky Sport reports, “Genoa are keen on securing the services of Pau Lopez, but they will have to fend off interest from Como to land him.”
This competition sets the stage for an open challenge between the two clubs.
While Genoa aims to fill the imminent void left by Martinez’s departure, both clubs are aware of the importance of bringing in an experienced goalkeeper like Pau Lopez.
