Matteo Lovato has officially joined Torino, moving from Salernitana on a permanent deal.
Torino Football Club is delighted to confirm the definitive purchase of Matteo Lovato’s sporting rights from Unione Sportiva Salernitana 1919. “Lovato was born in Monselice on 14 February 2000. He began his footballing journey in the youth systems in Padova and Genoa, making his professional football debut during the 2019-20 season,” read the official statement.
By January 2020, Lovato was signed by Verona, and under the command of coach Ivan Juric, he made his first Serie A appearance on 18 July, in a match against Atalanta.
Interestingly, though, it was Atalanta that would become Lovato’s next team come summer of 2021. He spent six months playing in Bergamo, during which he made his Champions League debut against Manchester United.
After a brief loan stint at Cagliari, Lovato donned the Salernitana jersey from the 2022-23 season and made 32 appearances. He also added to his credentials with 15 games and a goal for Italy’s U21 national team.
As the statement warmly added, “The whole of Torino Football Club welcomes Matteo Lovato with a hand of friendship and good wishes for his future. Strength and courage, as always to the Bulls!”
