Following Verona’s recent victory against Cagliari, the team’s striker, Milan Djuric, spoke to DAZN, sharing his thoughts on the game and the performance of the team.
Reflecting on the match, Djuric acknowledged the disappointment of initially missing an important penalty goal. He stated, “Football is like that. The entire team was upset about the loss. I made a crucial penalty error, but that’s football.”
However, he commended his team’s resilience, saying, “We immediately rallied, and I think we performed excellently tonight. Despite our limitations, which we’re trying to improve on, we played the game. I think it was a deserved victory. We took some risks in the first half, and the expulsion [of a player] helped us a little, but we managed to keep control of the game and bring the result home.”
Discussing the importance of gaining three points, Djuric admitted to feeling significant pressure. He revealed, “It had been so long since we had a win, even though we were getting there in the last few matches, thanks to our performances. But we were collecting less than we deserved. I think tonight was a turning point where, in addition to the performance, we added three points.”
Importantly, Djuric also used this occasion to share a message with the President, the management, and the fans. He said, “It’s a message for the President, the society, and the fans who always follow us. It was a deserved victory and the environment warrants it. The President has always been supportive.”
The striker’s reflective comments highlight the team’s determination to build on their performance, improve on their areas of weakness, and deliver satisfying results for all invested, from team management to their devoted fans.
