Udinese midfielder, Oier Zarraga, voiced his disappointment following his team’s draw against Torino in a post-match interview on DAZN.
“I’m pleased to have scored my first goal, but it’s a shame we couldn’t secure the win”, admitted Zarraga, alluding to the squad’s frequent aim.
Discussing the impact on the game, Zarraga acknowledged the importance of maintaining an assertive approach right from the beginning. “We all know we need to come out aggressively to regain control and score goals. That’s how we worked towards the goal”, he said.
When prompted to explain what Udinese lacked that resulted in the draw, the Spanish footballer pointed to the learning phase the team is currently in. He contended, “The way forward is to learn how to close out the matches, this isn’t the first time this has happened to us.”
Adapting to the Italian football culture has been a different experience for Zarraga who is originally from Spain. “The Serie A is quite different from the Spanish Liga, but now I feel good. I’ve learned a great deal, I just have to keep doing what I’m doing”, he explained.
Highlighting the distinct contrasts between Italian and Spanish leagues, Zarraga cited the significance of the tactical approach in Italy. “Tactics are very important here, if you get it wrong, the match surely goes bad, whereas in Liga you can play one-on-one based solely on technique,” he observed.
Looking ahead at the home game fixture, Zarraga emphasized the importance for both the team and fans to secure a win. “We work extremely hard every day, we are just missing some minor details to get the win”, he concluded.
