Udinese Calcio presented their end of year financial report today showing the position up to 30th June 2023. According to their official report, the club continues to be a model of sustainability, including its governance.
The assets of the Italian football club are valued at an impressive €123m, demonstrating the firm’s strength. Udinese has also managed to reduce financial debt by 18% compared to the previous year.
In fact, the net value of multi-year rights as of 30th June 2023 has shown an increase; reaching €45m, with the market worth of players standing at €185m at that time.
Moreover, there has been a substantial surge in revenue reaching €126m, a significant increase compared to €78m the previous year. The substantial growth in profits has been attributed to the full return of spectators to stadiums and the contributions from the Bluenergy Stadium, which generated revenues of €8m.
Interestingly, owing to prudent management strategies that’s always been part of Udinese’s business model, production costs have been cut by 16%. This allowed the football club to record only a €3.6m loss in comparison to the €69m from the previous financial year.
But it’s worth noting that the €3.6m loss is influenced by depreciations worth €6.5m caused by the 2020 re-evaluation of the stadium and the brand allowed by special Covid regulations. If depreciation effects are removed, there is a “virtual” profit of €2.9m.
What catches the attention in the balance sheets is the significant EBITDA figure, which is positive at €54m.
For the current year, Udinese Calcio secured two major commercial deals with a higher value than those existing as of 30th June 2023, relating to the commercial naming of the stadium with Bluenergy and the main sponsorship with I AM FROM FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA.
Adding further stability to the club is the five-year assignment of television rights.
Taken together, these factors allow Udinese Calcio to continue to be an example in a national and international football scene where financial difficulties are common. The club maintains its virtue certified by the Brand Finance Football Sustainability Index recognition as the most sustainable club in Italy and fourth in the world, thanks to its governance.
