AS Roma is considering options for the winter transfer window, with sporting director Tiago Pinto keen on bolstering the team’s defence. Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah features on Pinto’s list of potential reinforcements, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The London-based midfielder is yet to feature in any matches in the 2023-24 season. The lack of game opportunities might encourage his move in January as he seeks a team willing to give him regular pitch time.
AS Roma has emerged as a potential destination for Chalobah. The club recently reached out to Chelsea for information on the player. Roma’s relationship with Chelsea owners American Dan Friedkin and Todd Boehly, which was cemented in the summer during Romelu Lukaku’s loan move, could favourably position Roma in talks for Chalobah.
However, due to financial stipulations imposed as part of UEFA settlement agreement, Roma could only bring Chalobah onboard on a loan, similar to the offer made by Crystal Palace. Chalobah’s current pay is estimated to be around 1.6 million.
