David Okereke is officially a new player for Torino. The forward comes from Cremonese, with the Turin-based football club releasing a statement detailing the circumstances.
In the communique, Torino FC declared joyfully, “We are delighted to announce the acquisition, on a temporary basis with an option for a permanent transfer, of David Okereke from US Cremonese.”
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, on August 29th, 1997, Okereke started his football career at Abuja’s youth team. In 2015, he arrived in Italy, signing for Lavagnese. He transferred to Spezia in the winter market when he was included in their spring team.
Okereke debuted as a professional on April 9th, 2016, in Serie B against Novara. Following a season on loan to Cosenza, he switched to Bruges where he participated in major European competitions including the Europa League and the Champions League. During his tenure at Bruges, he won three Belgian championships and a Belgian Supercup, making a total of 71 appearances and scoring 15 goals.
In the 2021-22 season, he returned to Italy, on loan to Venezia. In 2022, he was purchased by Cremonese where he played 57 matches and scored 11 goals across various competitions.
