Urbano Cairo, president of Torino Football Club, spoke to media in the mixed zone after the club’s recent draw against Udinese.
Reflecting on the match, Cairo said, “The game could have gone our way, so being able to recover is a good sign.” He added that the players showed determination and a drive to win towards the end of the game. These comments came in response to Torino’s late equalizer, managing to stave off a loss with only 10 minutes left on the clock.
Recognising the performance of their opponents, Cairo described Udinese as a physically strong team, that welcomes competitive matches. Udinese have recorded 11 draws this season, proving their resilience on the pitch.
Cairo also looked ahead, saying, “Now we think about Christmas, then the important game in Florence next Friday.”
When discussing Torino’s performance over the past year, Cairo was positive despite the intense competition. Without giving exact details, he hinted at a positive outcome for Torino in the annual 2023 balance, citing a strong run of games since their match against Lecce.
Although he acknowledged a single defeat against Bologna, he emphasised, “We’re on the ball and the manager is focused. The new style of play is paying off.”
He praised the coach for his training methods and expressed optimism about the club’s future. He also specifically complimented Ilic for his third goal of the season and Ricci’s performance overall in the match.
