Stefano Grespan, Destiny Udogie’s first coach at the Noi di Nogara football school, spoke to Radio 1 about his first call-up to the national team. Grespan said, “He started playing football with me when he was 6 years old.
At first, I didn’t see a great passion for football in him. He has a somewhat introverted character, he never talks, he barely speaks with his teammates and he’s still like that. After four or five months, there was a change, we played our first friendly matches, I put him in midfield and, at six and a half years old, he was already tactically perfect in both phases.”
Grespan also praised Udogie’s parents for their support and integration into the team, describing them as a humble and model family who often visit him.
He also mentioned that Udogie had saved a ticket for him to watch a Tottenham match, but he couldn’t attend. However, he expressed his willingness to accept the invitation in the future as he has never seen a live Premier League match before.
