Ukrainian midfielder, Georgiy Sudakov, of Shakhtar Donetsk has spoken out about his future from the Ukrainian training camp.
Sudakov explained in a press statement that he “knows nothing of any negotiations” with Galatasaray, Manchester City, or Barcelona. He acknowledged that there were “official offers in January from Juventus and Napoli”, as initially reported by Juventus News 24.
The Ukrainian youngster continued, “Shakhtar turned down €40 million from Napoli – this was confirmed to me by CEO Palkin. I was a bit upset at first, but then I understood the club’s reasons: they obviously want to make as much as possible from my transfer. I agreed to renew until 2028 with a higher salary and very convenient conditions because I trust the president and Palkin. He told me that maybe in 6 months or a year, I will go to a big European club.”
While discussing preferred styles of play, Sudakov addressed that he has been “watching many matches of various teams since this possibility of leaving Shakhtar started”. He found that Juventus’ 3-5-2 play style may not suit his characteristics, “I know that to reach certain levels, there isn’t just 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. You have to be creative, versatile and adapt by studying every day”.
Lastly, Sudakov touched on his preferred league, stating that Girona might be his next move as they “should play the Champions League next year. If I had to choose, my favourite league is the English one, the level is higher, but Spain would please me a lot”. It remains to be seen where this upcoming talent will land but his recent comments have certainly added an extra layer to the speculation.
