San Marino confirms new head coach: Roberto Cevoli officially appointed

San Marino has officially announced the signing of their new head coach, Roberto Cevoli, according to a statement from the football federation.

Cevoli, set to turn 55 on 29th December, takes over the reins as head coach of San Marino national team. His resume speaks volumes, showing a distinguished playing career as a former defender for Modena, where he featured in two Serie A championships. His coaching amplitudes shine through his performances in charge of clubs in Serie C such as Imolese, Renate and Novara. Past experiences include stints at Reggio Calabria and managing the Pantere Nerazzurre.

However, as Cevoli was quoted saying from the official statement, everything started from San Marino. Notably, he played for three seasons starting from 1986, launching his defensive career at various clubs including Fano, Reggina, Reggiana and Torino. He was also a notable figure for top clubs in Emilia-Romagna, such as Carpi, Cesena and especially Modena. With the Canarini, he twice leaped from Serie C to Serie A before ending his career at Crotone.

His name has often been associated with the San Marino national team. Speaking on his new role, Cevoli said from the official statement, “Often in recent years, my name was mentioned as a possible technical commissioner for the National team. I never withdrew such a possibility. I seized this opportunity as something new and stimulating. I like to think of myself as trying to give back to San Marino what I personally received at the start of my career.”

The San Marino Football Federation has chosen a proven and professional candidate, with the hope of further raising the stakes, as re-emphasized by Montecchio, “Our goal should always be to continue to improve. And for that to happen, we need everyone’s contribution in full measure.”

Cevoli acknowledged the unique dynamics of Sammarinese football and emphasized the need for mutual trust from all participants in the Sammarinese football system. He stated, “The collaboration with the clubs where the players play will be fundamental and if it is fruitful, everyone will benefit.”

Journalists and media outlets will meet Mr. Cevoli tomorrow, during a press conference scheduled at the San Marino Stadium Press Room at 11:30. The event will be streamed live on TITANI.TV.
