Salernitana-Milan 2-2: Jovic rescues Rossoneri from further faltering

At the Arechi stadium, a thrilling Serie A 2023/2024 football match was held between Salernitana and AC Milan during the 17th round of the championship.

The game started with a possible handball incident in the 2nd minute as Doveri discussed with the VAR over Fazio’s touch on Leao’s shot, however nothing irregular was found. Within the first 5 minutes, Leao proved to be a danger as he broke away and shot from distance, just barely missing the net.

In the 16th minute, Milan’s defender, Tomori, scored the first goal of the match from a calculated set-piece move. A cross from Leao was slightly tipped by Pirola before Tomori headed the ball past Salernitana’s goalkeeper, Costil.

In the 41st minute, Fazio equalised for Salernitana with a decisive header that beat Milan’s goalkeeper, Maignan, on a corner kick. The first half ended with the score 1-1.

The second half started with Salernitana cautiously closing spaces for Milan. But in the 63rd minute, Candreva scored a surprising long-range goal to give Salernitana a 2-1 lead.

There were some controversies around this goal due to the presence of the wounded Tomori on the field. However, the goal stood and play continued.

At the 81st minute, Milan’s forward Jovic had a double chance but Costil, Salernitana’s goalkeeper, managed to keep him at bay with some excellent saves.

In the 90th minute, during added time, Jovic managed to find an equalizer for Milan with a volley beating Costil to close the match at 2-2.

The final goal scorers for the game were Tomori from Milan, Fazio and Candreva from Salernitana, and Jovic from Milan in the last minute.
