Former AC Milan and Italy national team manager, Arrigo Sacchi, has praised Inter Milan player Hakan Calhanoglu’s performance in an interview with Italy’s La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Sacchi said, “He is doing very well and, above all, he is doing a lot. You see him in all areas of the pitch: he runs and makes his teammates run.” Before adding, “With the benefit of hindsight, I must say yes. But these are situations that often occur in football. For example, even though they proposed it to me when I was a manager, I didn’t take Andrea Pirlo. And afterwards, we saw what he became.”
Calhanoglu previously played for AC Milan, where Sacchi noted he had already demonstrated his skills. “At Milan, Calhanoglu had already shown that he was good: back then, however, he was a ‘trequartista’, or at best a left central midfielder. Now it’s a different thing, now he is a team player,” Sacchi stated.
This praise comes amidst Inter’s impressive run of form with Calhanoglu playing a key role in the team’s success.
