Roma Football Club has officially lost its chase of Santos’ Forward, Marcos Leonardo. As reported by football insider Fabrizio Romano, the 18-year-old Brazilian striker will sign with Benfica in the next 24 hours.
The Portuguese giants Benfica will secure Leonardo’s talents for a sum of 18 million euros. An additional 10% bonus of any future resale of the player will also go to Santos, Leonardo’s former team.
Roma’s Sporting Director, Thiago Pinto, had shown a keen interest in Leonardo, however, the club switched its focus to Romelu Lukaku during the summer. Despite this, Roma was not the only club after the young Brazilian’s signature. Juventus and Al-Hilal had also expressed interest.
