Stade Rennais, the Ligue 1 club, has released a statement pertaining to the situation of Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic. The football player has officially requested a transfer.
“Nemanja Matic, midfielder of Stade Rennais FC, has not presented himself at the recent professional group trainings to which he was summoned,” the club stated. This conduct, it stresses, is “thoroughly incomprehensible from a player under contract until 202.”
Stade Rennais went on to emphasise that it had done everything in its power to ensure the smooth integration of Matic and his family, saying, “Naturally, sensitive to the personal well-being of its players, the club intends to remind [them] that all necessary provisions have been made for Matic and his family to integrate perfectly.”
The club reiterated its commitment to creating favourable conditions for its players, especially those from abroad, so they can express their talent on the pitch. “Stade Rennais FC has always done everything possible to put its players, especially foreign ones, in the best possible conditions so they can express their talent on the field,” the club stated.
The club is now “waiting for explanations from the player and is determined to take all necessary measures afterward, to preserve its interests,” emphasising that necessary steps will be taken to protect the club’s interests.
