Ahead of Real Madrid’s forthcoming clash against Alaves, Carlo Ancelotti, the team’s manager, spoke at a press conference about the team’s defence and specifically, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.
On the topic of Tchouameni, Ancelotti said, “Tchouameni does not like playing as a central defender, just as Camavinga does not like playing as a side defender. But he is very good as a central defender, and he knows it. He has realised that in case of emergency, he could play as a central defender for one or two games.” However, Ancelotti was clear in stating that “the future of Tchouameni at Real Madrid is as a midfielder, and we all know it”. The statement was made at a press conference, with Ancelotti also mistakenly referring to Tchouameni as “Tchouameninga” amid laughter.
Regarding the possibility of reinforcement in January, Ancelotti did not dismiss it. At the same press conference, the manager was quoted as stating, “I’m not saying no. We have spoken with the club, we will assess in the coming days, we have time. The January market only closes on the 31st, we will look for the best possible solution. For now, we are not in a hurry. Let’s end the year well and then we will have time to make the best decision possible.”
