Paris Saint-Germain’s Spanish goalkeeper, Sergio Rico, has opened up about his severe horse-riding accident in an interview with Cadena COPE.
He stated, “I absolutely do not remember anything from four hours before the accident to when I woke up. I was sedated with Fentanyl and have no memory.” Rico revealed that he does not recall the moment he regained consciousness, but believes his wife and mother were present.
Rico added that the incident was considerably challenging for his family. Despite visiting him, they only encountered an unconscious person without any communication. Interestingly, Rico said he suffered the least as he wasn’t fully aware of what had transpired.
Remarkably, the Spanish goalkeeper has made a dramatic recovery, despite losing 20 kilograms as a result of the accident. He was initially at 92 kilograms pre-incident, dropped to 73, and has since bounced back to a weight of 88 kilograms.
Rico admitted, “I’m looking forward to getting a bit more freedom from the doctor because I feel good. I want to return to my normal routine and feel like a footballer again.”
However, the PSG player emphasizes that he isn’t rushing the process and remains patient. He follows the orders from the medical experts who he credits with saving his life. Despite the horrifying ordeal, Rico asserts that there are no physical or mental consequences from the accident.
