Premier League: United suffers another defeat, City and Aston Villa secure wins

In the recent New Year’s round of Premier League matches, both of the Manchester giants were in action, with starkly contrasting outcomes.

Manchester City secured a decisive 2-0 victory against Sheffield United. Meanwhile, Manchester United suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Nottingham forest.

The games played partly in the late afternoon of New Year’s Day and will continue into the early days of January.

Manchester City’s victory came courtesy of goals scored by Rodri in the 14th minute and Alvarez in the 61st minute. This win moves them closer to the top of the table, narrowing the gap between them and the leading group.

However, the news was not so positive for Manchester United fans. The side lost to Nottingham Forest with a final scoreline of 2-1. Nottingham Forest’s success was as a result of goals from Dominguez in the 64th minute and Gibbs-White in the 82nd minute. Rashford brought some hope for the Red Devils with a goal in the 78th minute, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide of the game.

In other matches, Aston Villa triumphed over Burnley with an exciting 3-2 win, propelled by goals from Bailey, Foster, and a penalty by Douglas Luiz in the 89th minute. This victory temporarily puts them in second place on the league table.

More matches are coming up, with Fulham fighting it out with Arsenal on Sunday at 3:00 pm. Following this, Tottenham face Bournemouth at the same time. Liverpool will take on Newcastle on Monday at 9:00 pm, and the day after, West Ham and Brighton will meet at 8:30 pm.
