Peru appoints new national team coach: it’s official

The Peruvian Football Federation has announced Jorge Fossati as the new manager of the national team, starting in 2024.

In a statement, they communicated their high expectations and ambitious targets with the appointment. They expressed their objective of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup with the Uruguayan veteran coach leading the team.

The Federation expressed satisfaction in sealing an agreement with Fossati, who recently led Universitario de Deportes to the Liga1 Betsson title in 2023.

Throughout his career, Fossati, who is now 71, won significant national championships with teams such as Peñarol in Uruguay, Liga de Quito in Ecuador, Al Sadd in Qatar, and Cerro Porteño in Paraguay.
