Percassi on Atalanta: Champions League first, relegation safety next, stadium and youth sector to follow

Atalanta CEO, Luca Percassi, recently spoke about the club’s ambitions, their focus on youth development and infrastructure investments in an interview with Sportitalia.

Turning his attention to youth development and the pride the club feels in progressing players to the first team, Percassi highlighted some standout individuals. He said, “there are many boys, because when a boy arrives in the first team and has done all the training in the Youth Sector, he does nothing but represent the work and efforts made by all people dedicated to the daily life of our Sector.” Among those mentioned by Percassi were Scalvini, Matteo Ruggeri and Carnesecchi – the latter being called up to the senior national team.

Percassi also emphasised the ongoing efforts to improve the club’s infrastructure, including their home ground. He asserted, “There’s investment in the stadium, which is something unique, we can’t wait to enjoy the Atalanta home finished.”

Regarding their seasonal objectives and ambitions, he subtly hinted that despite the size of the club, every match matters. Without setting clear targets, he indicated, “We want to do well and compete, to achieve safety as soon as possible and then fight for everything else and try to repeat the great things done in recent years.” The objective to maintain their high standards implies aspirations towards continuance in the Champions League, following repeated success in recent seasons.
