Official: Roberts appointed to assist Fabregas in Como

Como Football Club has officially announced that Osian Roberts will be joining their ranks as the new head coach, working alongside a lacking qualification, Cesc Fabregas.

In a recent press release, Como shared, “Como 1907 is delighted to announce the appointment of former Morocco and Welsh FA technical director, Osian Roberts, as the interim manager until the end of the 23/24 season. Roberts, who has previously held coaching roles at Premier League’s Crystal Palace and the Welsh national team, will take over the first team in January with the support of Cesc Fabregas and the current coaching staff.”

Roberts is also due to assume the position of Head of Development at Como 1907. His duties will include nurturing a distinct “Como” identity within the organization, encompassing aspects of coaches’ training and players’ development plans. Once the season concludes, he’ll focus fully on this particular role.

The press release further reflects on Roberts’ exemplary career. “Throughout his career, Roberts has tremendously influenced Welsh and Moroccan football, playing a decisive role in achieving new benchmarks at the international level for both nations. With the former, he introduced ‘The Welsh Way,’ emphasizing dynamic gameplay and player development. Notably, he also helped shape top-tier coaches, including Roberto Martinez, Mikel Arteta, and Chris Coleman, through the world-standard FAW’s Dragon Park programme he established.”
