Nicolas Fonseca, son of former Roma player Daniel Fonseca, has officially signed for River Plate.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the club, which read, “This Saturday, Nicolas Fonseca signed his contract before the start of the 2024 preseason and has become a new player for River Plate.” The deal is set to run until December 31, 2027.
Nicolas Fonseca was born on October 19, 1998, in Italy, where his father Daniel Fonseca, who also played for River Plate in 2002, was plying his trade at the time. The younger Fonseca, a central midfielder, comes from Montevideo Wanderers.
The announcement continued: “Fonseca sealed the deal at River Camp, accompanied by First Vice President Matías Patanian and owner Eduardo Barrionuevo.”
Following the signing, Nicolas Fonseca immediately got to work, joining his new team for their first training session before they head to Orlando to take part in the club preseason.
