Negreira Case: Barcelona faces new accusations of sporting favours for money

In recent hours, the Spanish Civil Guard has conducted interviews with a total of 21 referees in connection with the “Negreira case”. New allegations have been levelled at Barcelona, according to reports by Spanish newspaper El Mundo.

The referees claim that Barcelona had hired match referee Negreira with the objective of “gaining some sort of sporting advantage”. Referee Gonzalez Gonzalez reportedly told investigators, “I understand they would want to gain some sporting advantage”.

Gonzalez further implied that José María had indicated to them that he held some influence over referees. This assertion was corroborated by other referees questioned during the investigation.
