Dario Nardella, the Mayor of Florence, has shared his insights on the redevelopment works at the Franchi Stadium and a potential temporary relocation for Fiorentina.
The comments surfaced during a meeting with Fiorentina’s general manager Barone. Nardella disclosed that they had consulted with the Mayor of Empoli on the potential for Fiorentina to play at Castellani during the construction work on the Franchi, but stated that the conditions for such a move are currently not in place.
Nardella described the meeting as in-depth and cordial. Various options concerning Empoli were explored, but now they are turning to other possible solutions, having sufficient time to do so. He stressed, “I speak for the municipality: the collaboration with Fiorentina is total to find the best possible solution.”
Concerning the Franchi Stadium renovations, Nardella revealed that the works are now reality. He notified that at 3 pm, they would open the bids and if the entities who had submitted offers meet the set requirements, the examination commission will convene to evaluate the better of the two offers.
Nardella was optimistic about the future, stating they have a great perspective and they must go forward with ‘healthy optimism’ to identify the temporary course of action during the ongoing works.
