Atalanta’s Colombian forward, Luis Muriel, discussed his future at the club following yet another successful performance, in an interview with Sky Sports.
“It was a special evening for me because Josip [Iličić] means a lot to Atalanta’s people and I hope to keep scoring,” Muriel stated. The match was a must-win game for them, he revealed, crediting their victory to not only their commitment but also their cool-headedness.
Muriel emphasized that Atalanta was his focus and he never even considered leaving the club. “The coach always speaks to me with great clarity,” he said, “Playing and scoring gives you motivation and incentives. I always put everything in so as to get more minutes on the pitch. I always aim to play from the first minute, and I always hope that he gives me that opportunity.”
His response suggests that he sees his role within the team as a proactive one, intending always to serve the team’s best interests.
Finally, when asked about a potential transfer to Udinese, Muriel dismissed the speculation. “No, I’m focusing on the continuation of this season,” he cleared the air. “I have six months left on my contract and I’ll talk with Atalanta. It will be also an opportunity to evaluate because I always want to play and to be on the field.”
