AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer has shared his thoughts on his recovery from a knee injury during a Meet & Greet event with the club’s fans.
Bennacer spoke positively about his recovery, saying, “I’m happy, I feel good and it’s been a month since I returned.” He expressed confidence in reclaiming his rhythm and preparing to play as a starter. However, who would hold the starting position remained uncertain, though the midfielder remained optimistic regarding his progress.
Training tirelessly, he mentioned his aim was to regain his match rhythm and help his team in European competitions. Bennacer could not participate in the Champions League but looked forward to their campaign in the Europa League, an equally important competition.
He also touched on the possibility of representing his national team at the Africa Cup of Nations. He revealed that while he was yet to receive a call-up, he would have a hard time rejecting the opportunity if it came and he was in good form.
The midfielder also spoke highly of his teammate Zlatan Ibrahimović. Despite Ibrahimović’s current absence from the field, Bennacer assured fans of the striker’s winning mentality, expressing certainty that Ibrahimović would achieve his goals.
In the coming year, Bennacer hopes to return to peak form. If he remains fit, he reiterated his commitment to helping the team in both the domestic league as well as in cups, and pushing the team as far as possible.
Bennacer also talked about AC Milan’s midfield, praising the new additions to the squad for their strength and distinct talents, saying that they could provide a fresh element to the team. The Algerian international showed flexibility, asserting that he is ready to play in any position as required by the coach.
On a lighter note, Bennacer also revealed that he had received a perfume gift from teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek and in return, had given a package of Lego to a data analyst, as part of a fun initiative.
