Marseille reportedly close to signing Greenwood, beating Italian competition

Mason Greenwood is edging closer to a move to Marseille, outmanoeuvring the competition from Italian sides Lazio, Napoli, and Juventus.

As reported by Sky Sports, the Manchester United winger, despite some unrest among the French fans, is on the verge of agreeing to join Roberto De Zerbi’s team.

A source close to the negotiations said, “Greenwood has always been keen on playing in France, and Marseille presents a unique opportunity for him.”

De Zerbi has expressed his enthusiasm about the potential signing. “I believe Greenwood will add a lot of value to our squad,” De Zerbi commented in an interview with L’Équipe.

There have been mixed reactions from Marseille supporters regarding this potential transfer. However, the club seems determined to push forward with the deal.

An insider at the club mentioned, “We’re confident that once Greenwood is here and performing on the pitch, the fans will come around.”

This development could deal a significant blow to Lazio, Napoli, and Juventus, who were also vying for the winger’s signature.

Only time will tell if this high-profile transfer will reach completion, but all signs point towards Greenwood donning the Marseille colours soon.
