Luton Town FC captain and defender Tom Lockyer gave everyone a scare when he collapsed on the pitch yesterday. Despite regaining consciousness and appearing in good health, the Welsh footballer will have to undergo further medical tests, according to a statement released by the club.
The Luton club statement detailed that their captain remains in hospital following a cardiac arrest on the Bournemouth pitch. It acknowledged the fans’ concerns and the intense media interest surrounding his condition. “Tom is still undergoing tests and scans and is awaiting results before the next steps for his recovery are determined,” the club said.
They clarified they wouldn’t be able to continually comment on Tom’s situation and asked it to respect that any updates will be provided through the club’s official channels at the appropriate time. “We all want the best for Tom, his partner Taylor and the entire Lockyer family, and kindly ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time,” the statement ended.
