Lobotka hints at a future away from Napoli, mentions disparity with Madrid and Barcelona.

Stanislav Lobotka, Napoli’s central midfielder, gave his thoughts on his future with the team while accepting his award as the best Slovak football player of the year.

On receiving the award, he said, “I find this joy indescribable. I’m happy to win this award, it’s a great motivator for me. I feel proud, I didn’t expect to win. This victory is a reward for the season I had last year with Napoli. 2023 has been strange; the first part was wonderful, the second not so much.”

Regarding his future, he candidly admitted, “We are Napoli, not Barcelona or Real Madrid who collect trophies every year. We aren’t at that level yet, but we are on the right path to get there. As for my future? I am happy in Napoli, but I don’t know what will happen.”

In a reference to counterpart, Marek Hamsik, who has bagged the accolade of ‘best Slovakian footballer’ eight times, Lobotka jestingly suggested, “Hamsik has won this award eight times, but I am sure he would trade one with me for the league title we won with Napoli.”
