Lecce, D’Aversa: Many absentees but we don’t want excuses

Lecce’s coach, Roberto D’Aversa, has given a press briefing ahead of the team’s away match against Atalanta.

Despite some missing players, D’Aversa said, “There will be absences, but I don’t want to create excuses. Absences create opportunity for other players. There is always someone who can adapt to a different role.” He also mentioned that Touba and Blin are potential replacements, indicating his faith that players adjusting for the team’s benefit.

Addressing Sanone’s calf injury, D’Aversa stated that the extent of the injury will be evaluated with tests. He also expressed the possibility of Oudin playing on the wing and added that the three forwards would have to play more compactly due to injuries.

D’Aversa is hopeful ahead of the match against Atalanta, saying, “We hope to face an off-day Atalanta. Gasperini is one of the best coaches in Serie A. We aim to end the year on a positive result.”

Discussing Kaba, D’Aversa praised the midfielder’s unique skills for their centre field and hinting he could potentially start the upcoming match. For Listkowski, D’Aversa confirmed he’s been training well and may start the game too.

Concerning Dorgu, the Lecce’s coach believes the player could show his offensive capabilities.

Reflecting on the previous match against Inter, D’Aversa noted some fatigue among his players but also highlighted several opportunities for them to score which were missed. He voiced his disappointment about difficult situations in matches against Milan, Inter, and Juventus.
