Karius Expresses Interest in Playing in Serie A, Offers Services

Former Liverpool goalie and current Newcastle player, Loris Karius, has hinted at a possible transfer to Italy’s Serie A, revealing his yearning to be closer to his family. Rumours had previously linked the German with a move to Inter.

Speaking with Italian daily newspaper, Gazzetta dello Sport, Karius discussed how challenging it is living so far from his loved ones. “Living far away from Diletta [Leotta] is not easy. On our free days, we try to see each other, but we don’t always manage it. The English schedule is very busy.”

The prospect of playing in the Serie A intrigues the goalkeeper. “The Serie A? It would be a great solution if there were good options for me, regardless of the proximity to my family. I’ve always followed Serie A and it intrigues me a lot, but it’s too early to talk about the future.”

Also disclosing his friendship with former Juventus icon, Claudio Marchisio, Karius revealed he had enlisted the help of Marchisio’s agency in relation to his career. “Claudio Marchisio and I are friends, I know him well, and I think he is the right person, so I have entrusted his agency.”

The 28-year-old German, who is contracted with Newcastle until the end of the year, could depart the club as a free agent. It remains to be seen where the goalkeeper’s future lies, given these strong indications of his interest in plying his trade in Italy.
