Juventus seeks to extend Vlahovic’s contract amidst complexity.

Nicolò Schira, a renowned journalist and football transfer expert, spoke exclusively to Juventusnews24.com. Here are some excerpts from his interview.

On the “Vlahovic case” at Juventus, addressing both his on-field performances and contractual situation, Schira remarked, “The renewal was complicated regardless of his recent performances.”

He elaborated, stating, “At the moment, he earns €12 million per season, a salary that is unsustainable for any Italian club today, or indeed any club. A solution needs to be found, but it’s understandable that he won’t accept spreading the remaining two years of his contract over four years.”

In clearer terms, Schira explained, “He has €24 million in wages due, and the proposal to spread this across four years at €8 million annually was declined. Thus, the situation remains at a standstill. It’s clear that consistent high performance, say scoring 25 goals, could give Vlahovic the leverage to impose his terms. Conversely, his fluctuating form does not help in the negotiations. I believe it is quite challenging to reach an agreement for his renewal today.”

Regarding Jonathan David as Giuntoli’s chosen target and the situation with the Lille striker, Schira noted, “It’s too early to talk about chosen targets, it’s only September.”

Schira continued, “Certainly, if David doesn’t renew with Lille, he could become a great opportunity on a free transfer. Giuntoli likes him, having wanted him at Napoli two years ago, so this could be the right moment. He doesn’t have a high wage, is young, and ticks all the boxes for our football.”

Highlighting his potential, Schira added, “He is very much liked by Juventus, as well as Inter and a couple of major English clubs. Marseille is also interested. On a free transfer, he could be an excellent opportunity.”
