Juventus has reportedly started the initial contact with Manchester City regarding the transfer of Kalvin Phillips, widely anticipated to happen this coming January. This is according to information provided by football journalist, Fabrizio Romano. This followed the player’s own agreement for the move.
The proposal, ideated by Juventus sports director Fabio Giuntoli, is to have Phillips on loan with the option of reclamation on the player’s registration rights. This would allow Juventus to buy out Phillips’ contract from Manchester City at the conclusion of the loaning period. However, the English club is looking to amend this to a compulsory buyout at the end of the loan period.
Negotiations between the parties are still underway and further developments are expected to unfold in the near future. As yet, there is no official statement from either Juventus or Manchester City.
