Salernitana’s coach, Filippo Inzaghi, praised his team’s performance after their 4-1 defeat to Atalanta, in an interview with Sky Sport.
He admitted that, after their last two games, he had been critical of his team, but said this time he couldn’t fault them.
“We faced Atalanta; a champion like Muriel can change the match and we had an incredible chance at 1-1 with Dia”, Inzaghi stated. However, he pointed out the need for balance in the team, discontent with the goals they are conceding.
He expressed his satisfaction with his team’s spirit, saying “I saw a Salernitana determined to survive… My players have shown they care and I have seen the desire to survive”.
Further on, Inzaghi mentioned his target for the rest of the season. He explained, “I have to finish the year well. We’ve set a goal with the president to get 3-4 points in these last matches”. Still, he acknowledged some setbacks, saying, “the goals have cut our legs”.
Reflecting on their performance against Atalanta, the coach showed optimism, commenting that “despite Muriel’s exceptional goal, Salernitana stood up to Atalanta, and that’s why I think we can make it”.
Despite the team’s recent struggles, Inzaghi insisted on his commitment to the club, stating that he will do everything to save the team and believes they could still turn their season around.
