Inter Milan extends lead in standings with 2-0 victory over Lecce

At San Siro stadium, a gripping match played out between Inter and Lecce for the 17th round of the 2023/2024 Serie A championship. The match saw Inter secure a 2-0 victory over Lecce, thanks to crucial goals from Bisseck in the 43rd minute and Barella in the 78th minute.

The game kicked off with Inter showcasing a robust performance early in the match. Six minutes into the game, Inter’s Arnautovic narrowly missed a scoring opportunity, thwarted by a swift footed save by Lecce’s goalkeeper, Falcone. Despite a string of close calls and chances, the first half ended with a single goal, courtesy of Bisseck’s header which left Falcone beaten.

Just minutes into the second half, a penalty was called for Lecce following a handball by Carlos Augusto. However, the decision was later rescinded after a VAR review. The game included Brella beautifully playing a one-two with Arnautovic, who then beat Falcone to double Inter’s lead to 2-0.

In the 82nd minute, Lecce’s Banda was sent off after receiving a red card for protesting a call, leaving his team down to ten men. Despite numerous attempts by Lecce, with especially noteworthy efforts from Banda and Kaba, none were successful in piercing Inter’s defenses, guarded by a steadfast Sommer.

As the final whistle blew, the match ended 2-0 in Inter’s favor, offering a boost to their standing in the Serie A championship.
