In an official statement, Galatasaray reported, “Our player Mauro Icardi, who sustained facial bone fractures after being hit in the Fenerbahce match of the 18th day of the Trendyol Super League, will not play for a while to undergo ophthalmic, otorhinolaryngological and plastic surgery examinations.”
The club went on to state that there will be a re-evaluation post the 20th day following the trauma. Further, they added that if necessary, he will be able to play with a protective mask.
