Gyokeres indicates regret over Amorim’s departure and suggests he is content at Sporting despite Manchester United’s interest.

Viktor Gyokeres has discussed the departure of Sporting Club’s manager, Amorim, as well as his own future amid speculation that he could join Manchester United alongside the coach.

“It is very sad that Amorim is leaving, but of course, we understand his decision,” Gyokeres told Fotbollskanalen. “He meant a lot to me as he gave me the opportunity and helped me grow significantly. Now, we are looking forward to working with the new manager.”

In regard to following Amorim to Manchester United, Gyokeres commented, “There are already several forwards there, so we will see. But it’s not something I’m thinking about. Obviously, I want to play the full season with Sporting and I feel good there, so there’s no rush for me to move in the future. We shall see when the right time comes.”

When asked about the best league for his career, Gyokeres admitted, “It’s difficult for me to say. I don’t have any particular preference. We will see if it happens in the future, and I’ll assess how I feel then. I don’t change anything, and I don’t do anything differently. I continue to do what has worked.”

Regarding his future aspirations, Gyokeres stated, “I want to be given an important role and to be able to play. That’s the most important thing. There are other aspects that need to be in place, but I will consider those when the time arrives.”
