Marseille coach Gennaro Gattuso was reflective in his post-match press conference following their Europa League encounter with Brighton.
He stated, “we were aware of the kind of match we would have to face. Brighton didn’t steal anything: it’s tough to lose in the last minute, but they deserved it.” This was broadcasted during his press conference.
Gattuso admitted his side could have performed better in terms of quality and precision. He commented on how Marseille often over-relied on their goalkeeper to play long balls and relieve pressure from Brighton. The first half of the game, he said, proved to be very challenging for his side. They had the spirit, but lacked the quality, and made choices that put them in difficulty.
When quizzed about Milan as a potential opponent in the Europa League, Gattuso said he was currently focusing only on the upcoming games against Clermont and Montpellier.
His final thoughts were on the loss against Brighton, which he confessed hurts. Looking forward, he simply said, “We will see, I have no preferences.”
