The Galatasaray manager, Buruk Okan, has addressed the media about the situation of Victor Osimhen. The striker, on loan from Napoli, has become even more crucial for the Istanbul side following Mauro Icardi’s severe injury. Okan confirmed that the Nigerian international “will not be moving in the winter transfer window.”
“Osimhen intends to stay here until the end of the season,” Okan stated during the press conference, according to sources. “He himself wants to remain, and from the beginning, he has been telling me the same thing. There’s a clause, but it doesn’t matter; he said he would stay. The important thing is the player; it’s the player who decides, and Osimhen says he will stay here. He has said the same thing since he arrived.”
Addressing Icardi’s injury, Okan mentioned, “At times, it’s necessary to rest some players. For example, we didn’t let Gomis train for two days before the match; we let him rest due to his age and his self-awareness.” He added, “There’s also a psychological aspect; Icardi has played very little for us in his optimal form. He was just beginning to recover when one injury led to another.”
These statements come as Galatasaray face the challenge of the ongoing season without one of their star players in his best form.
