FIFA expressed openness to dialogue for improving the transfer market, following Diarra’s judgment.

FIFA has announced its intention to reconsider the mechanisms of the global transfer market following the Diarra Ruling. This development comes after the European Court of Justice determined that certain FIFA regulations are inconsistent with European Union laws.

In a statement released via its social media channels, FIFA declared, “FIFA will initiate a global dialogue on the transfer system, involving key stakeholders, to adapt Article 17 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP). This announcement follows the decision of the European Court of Justice in the Diarra case and aligns with FIFA’s strategic objective to further improve the transfer system.”

The conversation around these changes is expected to involve an array of significant parties and reflects FIFA’s commitment to updating and enhancing the way player transfers are managed internationally.
